Trans Bloom is accepting interns for the spring semester. If you have relevant experience or would like to gain new skills while contributing to meaningful work with a trans-centered organization, then consider applying for an internship.

  • Organization

    Trans Bloom is an intergenerational trans and BIPOC-centered cultural hub dedicated to healing through creativity and connection. We create programming to strengthen community resilience, foster meaningful relationships with nature, and promote joy. Our three program areas are artist residencies, activist retreats, and community events. Trans Bloom is an emerging organization that is all-volunteer. By the end of the year we will conduct a BIPOC and trans artist needs assessment, host a strategic planning retreat, host our first artist residents, and forge partnerships to co-host arts events in Oakland and Ukiah.

    Role Overview

    You will work closely with the Executive Director to help develop and execute a community engagement strategy to recruit new volunteers and initiate new partnerships with community-based organizations. This is an exciting opportunity to learn how to grow an early-stage social enterprise. The ideal intern can commit to working at least 10 hours per week. We are open to working with your schedule around beginning and end dates as well as the day-to-day work rhythm.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Research local community organizations and outreach opportunities (events, conferences, etc.)

    • Contribute and edit content for bi-monthly newsletter that goes out to stakeholders

    • Give input into social media content geared at fostering community and cultivating volunteers

    Requirements

    • Cultural competence with transgender communities

    • Proficiency with social media (Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, and Canva)

    • Interest and willingness to learn communications best practices

    • Passion for social justice, the arts, and/or community-building

    • Internet access

    • Strong follow-through

    • Ability to work independently

    Key Responsibilities

    • Create content for social media (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)

    • Research software to help expedite and streamline communications tasks

    • Assist in the development and creation of outreach collateral (one-pagers, flyers, postcards, etc.)

    Requirements

  • Location: Remote (with opportunities for in-person work near Ukiah, CA, or the Bay Area, if applicable)

    Commitment: 10-20 hours per week

    Duration: 2-6 months, depending student interest/capacity

    Role Overview

    The Development Intern will assist in securing funding for Trans Bloom’s programming and infrastructure. This position is ideal for someone passionate about social justice, arts, and grassroots fundraising who is eager to develop skills in nonprofit development. The intern will work closely with the leadership team to support grant writing, donor cultivation, and event-based fundraising initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities

    Grant Research and Writing

    • Support with compiling information about grant opportunities aligned with Trans Bloom’s mission

    • Assist in drafting grant applications, proposals, and reports

    Donor Engagement

    • Help create materials for donor communications, including newsletters, thank-you letters, and impact updates

    Event Support

    • Assist in the planning and execution of community-building events, including artist mixers and community gatherings

    • Manage event-related logistics, such as RSVPs and follow-ups

    Administrative Support

    • Attend team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions

    • Perform other development-related tasks as needed

    Qualifications

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Interest in or experience with social justice, arts, or nonprofit work

    • Familiarity with grant writing is a plus but not required

    • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks

    • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets) and familiarity with fundraising platforms is a plus

    • A commitment to the values of trans liberation, anti-racism, and intersectionality
